F4E Call for Demonstrator Proposals open

As fusion projects like ITER push the boundaries of technological know-how, new opportunities arise in other fields. To unlock this potential, Fusion for Energy (F4E) has launched  a Call for Demonstrator Proposals to support projects taking fusion breakthroughs into new markets. Open to all European companies and organisations, the winner will receive 50.000€. Applications are open until July 30^th.  

This initiative is part of F4E’s Technology Transfer Programme, which aims at promoting promising fusion technologies and help companies develop new applications to make them commercially viable. A dedicated Marketplace presents a portfolio of cutting-edge technologies developed under F4E activities and its industrial partners.   

“We offer a unique opportunity for companies to make a leap towards a new ground. With the Demonstrator Proposals we are also nurturing an innovation ecosystem that goes beyond the remit of fusion. It is inspiring to see how Europe’s investment in fusion is paying off in many other sectors”, claims Carmen Casteras, Intellectual Property Officer at F4E. 

In 2023, the Call received a high number of quality proposals. The winner was French SME DAES (Development of Advanced Engineering Solutions), recognised for its ambition to leverage on a software developed for ITER to open new business perspectives in conventional fission nuclear power plants and possibly renewables at a second stage.
